About Me and Furbabies Walk ’N’ Sit Pet Services Hello! I’m Janice, owner and operator of Furbabies Walk ’N’ Sit Pet Services. If you’re here, chances are you have a beloved pet—and a busy life. Whether you work full-time, manage shift work, travel often, or are simply juggling a demanding schedule, you want someone you can trust to care for your pets when you can’t be there. That’s where I come in. As a lifelong animal lover and pet parent myself, I understand how stressful it can be to leave your furry family members behind. My dog Nikki, who blessed my life for sixteen years, taught me this firsthand. Kennels made her anxious, and she often refused to eat. Everything changed when I discovered in-home dog walking and live-in/out pet sitting. Nikki got to stay in her own environment—her routines, her comforts, her bed (well… mine!)—and I got peace of mind knowing she was happy and safe. I've been doing live ins for friends as a side gig for 25 years in Saskatchewan and here in Calgary prior to formally starting my business. That experience inspired me to turn my passion into a profession. With encouragement from friends and family, and with Nikki’s memory guiding me, Furbabies Walk ’N’ Sit Pet Services in Calgary was born 15 years ago. I now specialize in doing live in (your home), caring for your furbabies on their turff. Who I Am Animals have always been a central part of my life. Before launching Furbabies, I worked in Emergency Medical Services, supported adults and children with disabilities, and spent many years in customer service and hospitality. These roles strengthened my compassion, patience, problem-solving skills, and dedication to caring for others. While doing these jobs, I did live in pet sitting for friends, and then for friends of friends as word of mouth grew my side hustle. Today, I bring those same qualities to the pets I look after. (And yes—I now bake a pretty great dog cookie!) My Philosophy At Furbabies, your pets are treated like family—because they are family.
