Terms of Service
Last updated August 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Floof Pet Care ("Floof", "we", "us"). By creating an account, booking care or offering care through our platform, you accept them.
1. What Floof is
Floof is a marketplace that connects pet owners with independent pet sitters in Alberta, Canada. Sitters are not employees, agents or contractors of Floof. The care agreement is between the pet owner and the sitter; Floof provides the platform, vetting, payment processing and support around it.
2. Accounts
You must be at least 18 and provide accurate information. You are responsible for everything that happens under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, misrepresent themselves, or put pets or people at risk.
3. Bookings
A booking request is an offer to the sitter. It becomes a confirmed booking only once the sitter accepts and payment is completed. A request may be sent to up to five sitters at once; when you pay one of them, the remaining requests are automatically released.
Pet owners must disclose everything a sitter reasonably needs to know: medical conditions, medication, behavioural history including any bite history, vaccination status and emergency contacts. Withholding this information may void the booking and any coverage.
4. Prices, fees and payment
Sitters set their own rates. The price you see before paying is the full price: care subtotal, any holiday surcharge, applicable discounts, the Floof service fee and GST/HST at the rate for the province of service. All amounts are in Canadian dollars.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Funds for the care portion are settled to the sitter's connected Stripe account; Floof retains its service fee. You authorise us to charge the payment method you provide for the amounts shown at checkout.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellations are handled under our cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.
6. Sitter obligations
Sitters must hold any licences their municipality requires, provide care consistent with the booking, communicate through the Floof platform, keep pets' details confidential, and notify the owner and Floof immediately of injury, illness, escape or any incident.
Sitters may not solicit owners to book or pay outside the platform. Doing so removes all payment protection and is grounds for permanent removal.
7. Reviews and content
You keep ownership of the content you post and grant Floof a licence to display it on the platform. Reviews must reflect a real booking and must not contain abuse, private information or content you don't have rights to. We may remove content that breaches this.
8. Emergencies and veterinary care
If a pet needs urgent veterinary attention and the owner cannot be reached, the sitter may seek care at the nearest available veterinarian. The owner is responsible for the cost of that care.
9. Liability
Floof is not a party to the care agreement and does not supervise care. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from any booking is limited to the Floof service fee we received for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Alberta or Canadian law.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be notified by email or in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable there.
